Hollis, Robert E., a 55 year resident of the South Bay, passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2010, at 81. He was an army veteran. Dr. Hollis was a graduate of UCLA's first medical school class and practiced pediatrics in Torrance for 32 years. Bob was an avid backpacker, skier, sailor, cyclist, ham radio operator, woodworker, and tinkerer in all things mechanical and electronic. He was an extraordinary man who will be dearly missed. Dr. Hollis is survived by his wife of 60 years, Harriett Hollis; five daughters, Jennie (Dan Peterka) Hollis, Laura (Miki) Fujitsubo, Betty (Tom) Tanaka, Diana Hollis, Carol (David) Romero; 11 grandchildren; and his sister, Lois Palmer. The family will host a celebration of his life in the coming months.
