

Robert Arnott Shenk, 97, passed away peacefully on June 5, 2022, in Torrance, California. As a veteran of World War II, he was awarded the World War II Victory Medal, Air Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters, Good Conduct Medal, Distinguished Unit Badge, American Campaign Medal, European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 1 Silver Service Star and European-African Middle Eastern Service Medal with 5 Bronze Stars.
Robert was born on August 28, 1924 in Carlisle, PA to Mervin and Margaret Shenk. He joined the armed forces on September 26, 1942 and was assigned to the 773rd Bombardment Squadron and 463rd Bombardment Group. After his honorable discharge from the armed forces in 1945, he worked in the aerospace industry until his retirement.
Robert was a loving and devoted husband. He married Mary Edwards on July 2, 1955. In 1960, he, Mary and his stepson, Jim, moved into their home at Sunnyview Street in Torrance, California, where he lived until his passing. Robert was a quiet and reserved man. He was respected and well-liked among his neighbors and many friends.
He is survived by his sister, Mary Richards, of Knoxville, TN and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife, Mary, who waits for him in heaven.
A viewing will take place at Lighthouse Memorials – White & Day Center located at 901 Torrance Blvd., Redondo Beach, CA 90277 on June 28, 2022, from 10:00am to 12:00pm.
A memorial service will take place at Green Hills Memorial Park located at 27501 South Western Avenue, Rancho Palos Verdes, CA 90275 on June 28, 2022 at 2:00pm.
