Lifetime resident of the South Bay, Robert Gene (Bob) Smith, passed away December 20, 2007. Born April 4, 1938 to Hazel and Robert Smith. He was a wonderful son to Hazel and later Charles Taylor. Bob was the great big brother to Claudette, Carole, Jimmie, Pat and Reni. He married Jeanette Rumsey in 1959 and fathered five sons, Bob, Jon, Donald, Mike and David. In 1976, he married his beloved Jeanne Myers and became father to Tom, Bill and Ken. Bob was happiest when he was with his family. He loved and always enjoyed all his 14 grandchildren plus 3 great grandchildren. His other lifelong love was his union family dedicating 45 years as an officer of the Communications Workers of America (CWA). Viewing is at Rice Mortuary, 5310 Torrance Blvd., Torrance on Sunday, December 23rd at 12 p.m., services at 1 p.m., immediately followed by a reception.
