Dr. Ruth E. Horne, a 49 year resident of Redondo Beach, passed away at home on Saturday, May 28, 2011 in Redondo Beach. Born in Pittsburgh, PA, Ruth was 75 when she died. Ruth had served in the Marines during the Korean War . Ruth was a long time educator at Palos Verdes Peninsula High. She is survived by her nieces; Kristine Horne and Jennifer Bassett, her nephew; Raymond Horne III and great nieces; Elisa Henry and Erica Henry. Preceded in death by her parents; J. David and Ruth E. Horne, brothers; David Benton Horne and Raymond Ellis Horne II. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the ASPCA. Burial will follow at South Side Cemetery in Pittsburgh at a later date.
