Sister Mary Veronica was born in Connellsville, Pennsylvania. She moved with her family to Fresno, California where she graduated from San Joaquin Memorial High School. Veronica entered community in 1950. Her early years in ministry were in elementary education. She loved teaching, but her heart was in the field of art. She studied and earned an BFA in painting and an MA in art. Sister taught high school art classes at various schools in Southern California. She said of herself, “I attempt to create peace in my artwork and capture those moments of contemplation and variety that happen amid our daily hectic experiences.”
In her retirement years, Veronica was involved with bringing justice to those falsely imprisoned and worked wholeheartedly on their behalf.
Veronica had a good sense of humor and a contagious laugh. She found joy in simple things and delighted in conversation with others. May she rest in peace
She is survived by her brother Stephen Brutosky, sisters Irma Jean Hilden, Theresa Ann Delaney and Mary Michelle Sullivan, many nieces, nephews and grand nieces and nephews.
