
A resident of the South Bay for over 55 years, Swede passed away quietly at home at the age of 93 on Saturday, Sept. 13, 2008. Born in Uppsala, Sweden in 1914, he emigrated with his family to Seattle, WA in 1917. During WWII, he served as a Navy Seabee stationed in the Pacific Islands. After the war, he attended a weekend Eagles convention in Aberdeen, WA and stayed for 5 years. It was here that he met the love of his life, Olive "Babe" Sutlovich. Babe and Swede were married in 1950 and moved to California to raise a family. Swede loved family gatherings, golf, sports, trips to casinos, his mountain home, his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Olive Norberg, daughter, Nancy (Gilbert) Orabuena, son, David (Diane) Norberg, grandchildren, Christy (Richard) Cimmento, Bryan Orabuena, and Jason (Alicia) Orabuena, and brother, Bert Norberg and numerous nieces and nephews. A gathering of family & friends will be held at White & Day Colonial Chapel on Wednesday, September 17, 2008 from 5-7 P.M. A funeral Mass will be held at St. James Church on Thursday, September 18, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. Burial will follow at Green Hills Memorial Park in Rancho Palos Verdes.
