Sister Barbara Joseph was born in Los Angeles and attended St. John Chrysostom grade school and St. Mary’s Academy. She was part of a close knit and supportive family. In her words, “My family has always been there for me in all my activities.”
As a youngster, Barbara Joseph loved to swim--for joy and in competition. She said, “Swimming proved to be my lifesaver; when I was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, swimming kept my muscles working.”
Sister was a dedicated teacher and administrator in both elementary and high school for many years. She also served as Development Director for the Los Angeles Province.
As Sister’s mobility became more difficult, she joined the Holy Family Community. Declining energy made her less able to participate in activities.
May our gracious God grant our dear Sister Barbara a reward for her willingness to serve with joy and whole-hearted dedication wherever she was needed.
She is survived by many nieces, nephews, grand nieces, and grand nephews.
