Schlax, Sr. Mary John, L.C.M., passed away November 20, 2010, a Sister of the American Province of the Little Company of Mary since July 1, 1945. Sister Mary John served in numerous positions, most notably as Provincial Superior of the American Province of the Sisters of Little Company of Mary from 1972 to 1979, various financial positions in her community and parish and hospice ministries. She is survived by a sister, Kathleen Rasmussen of Nashville, TN.
Visitation will be Monday, November 29, 2010 from 4PM until 9PM with Vigil Service at 7PM and Funeral Mass, Tuesday, November 30, 2010 at 10AM all at Providence Little Company of Mary Hospital Chapel, 4101 Torrance Blvd., Torrance, CA with committal in Holy Cross Cemetery, Culver City, CA. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Little Company of Mary Sisters Retirement Fund and/or the Providence LCM Foundation Palliative Care, 4101 Torrance Blvd., Torrance, CA
