
Dr. Theodore Charles Buzanis beloved husband, father, grandfather (papou) and physician passed away with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, December 4, 2007, he was 82 years-old. Ted is survived by his devoted wife and companion of over 54 years Katherine, and his daughters Maria and Jan and his son Charlie. Ted is also survived by his granddaughters Ryan, Samantha, Kristina and Sophia and grandsons Charlie and Jake along with sons-in-law Steve and Dave.
Theodore (Ted) was born in Toledo, Ohio on April 17, 1925 and was the eldest son of Charles and Mary Buzanis who emigrated from Greece. Both his parents and younger brother Sam preceded him in death. Ted served as an army medic in both World War II and the Korean War before graduating from the University of Toledo. Ted completed his Masters in Bacteriology at USC where he was a member of the varsity crew team and received his medical degree from UC Irvine.
Ted practiced as a physician and surgeon in the Torrance area for over 30 years, offering his compassionate and caring brand of healing to the patients he cared so much about. Ted was Chief of Staff at Bay Harbor Hospital and on staff at Torrance Memorial Hospital. He also served on the admissions committee of UC Irvine.
A world traveler with his wife Katherine, Ted most enjoyed tending to his vegetable garden, his daily workout, golfing and reading but received the most joy from spending time with his beloved wife, children and grandchildren who will miss his steady support fun-loving sense of humor and "positive mental attitude".
