
Bonifacio, Theresita G., a 22 year resident of the South Bay, passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2009 in Torrance, CA . Born in the Philippines, "Bon" as she was affectionately known, was 62 when she died. She was a member of St. Philomena Catholic Church in Carson. Theresita "Bon" Bonifacio graduated Summa Cum Laude from Lincoln University in San Francisco, California with a degree of Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration. She was an Administrator for a Board and Care Facility for the elderly for several years and had attended numerous seminars on Aging. She was also an Ombudsman for the L.A. Dept. of Aging and a columnist for a Los Angeles newspaper on senior affairs. Her book, "Help at your Fingertips: A Resource Book for Senior Citizens and Caregivers," had received an overwhelming response from seniors and caregivers nationwide.
As President of Resources for the Golden Years, a non-profit corporation, she had been giving information seminars to senior organizations on topics like Longevity, Long Term Care, Reverse Mortgage, Life Settlements, Medicare and Identity Theft Prevention. During her seminars, the seniors participate in a Longevity Game. Her Hobbies included watching Filipino Dramas and Movies, reading, traveling, and driving. Her passions were Family and Friends, Food, Networking and Religion. She will always be a fan of Jesus, Joel Osteen and Og Mandino.

Bon is survived by her brother Oscar "Dodo" Gonzalez, daughter, Margarita "Elcie" (Vincent) Vaca of Foster City, CA; daughter, Angelica (Stephen) Dobbs of Huntington Beach, CA; son, Jose (Rogielyn) Vallejo of Long Beach, CA; son, Joseph Bonifacio of Torrance, CA; step-daughter, Maria (Just) Justo of Burbank, CA; step-son, Joel (Thelma) Bonifacio of Lakewood, CA; step-son, Mark Bonifacio of Los Angeles, CA; step-daughter, Joanne Bonifacio of Irvine, CA; grandchildren: Alfonso, Alejandra, Andres Javier, Makena, Cooper, Karissa, Sebastian, Kristin, Thomas, Justin, Vanessa, Junior, and Carmen. She was preceded in death by her parents, Luz and Oscar Gonzalez; and her husband Celestino Bonifacio, who passed away in August.
A gathering of family & friends will be held at Rice Mortuary in Torrance on Tuesday and Wednesday, September 22 and 23 from 6-10pm. The Vigil will be held Wednesday at 7pm at the Mortuary. The Service will be held at St. Philomena Catholic Church in Carson on Thursday September 24 at 10am. The family will host a Reception at Rice Mortuary Lighthouse Room until 2pm. Burial will follow at Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier at 3pm. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Joseph Bonifacio.
