Virginia May Burke

a 70 year South Bay resident passed away Tuesday, January 18th in Torrance. Born in Dayton, Ohio June 26, 1919, Virginia was 91. She came to California in 1940 with her husband Joseph Burke. They were married 53 years. She retired from Hughes Aircraft. She was a member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Hermosa Beach. She is survived by her daughter, Genevieve Carlson of Redondo Beach, son Joseph Burke of Marysville, CA, daughter Mary (Carl) Bennett of Torrance, daughter Theresa (Ronni Hicks) Lien of Palmdale, son James (Gina) Burke of Ashdown, AR; 18 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by he husband Joseph Burke in 1992. Visitation will be held Friday, January 21, 2011 from 3:00 PM to 8:00 PM at White and Day's Colonial Mortuary, 901 Torrance Blvd. with Rosary Services beginning at 7:00 PM in the Mortuary Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, January 22nd at 10:00 AM at Our Lady of Guadalupe, 1225 5th Street in Hermosa Beach. Burial will follow with procession to Calvary Cemetery in Los Angeles.
