Wilbur Alton Andrews

81, died on Saturday, Noverber 15, 2003 at his home in Redondo Beach. Wilbur was born on May 24, 1922 in Huron, South Dakota. After graduating from Georgia Institute of Technology, Wilbur worked for 40 years as an aeronautical engineer at North American Rockwell. For 21 years (1961 through 1981) he served as a member of the Board of Trustees of the South Bay Union High School District. During World War II, he served his country by enlisting in the Navy and achieved the rank of Lieutenant, j.g. He served as elder and trustee at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church where he was a member for over 50 years. Wilbur served in leadership roles for youth activities such as Sunset Little League, Pony League, Boy Scouts and Explorer Scouts. He was a member of the South Torrance Lions Club, and the South Bay Orchid Society. Wilbur is survived by his two children, Richard Andrews and Jeri O'Brien; and four grandchildren, Beri O'Brien, Corey O'Brien, Aubrey Andrews, and Christopher Andrews. A Memorial service will be held Friday, November 21st at 10:30am at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, Avenue D and Pacific Coast Highway, Redondo Beach. A reception will be held immediately following the service. The burial service will be private.
