
A 44-year resident of, Sunland, CA, Bill was born on January 12, 1932, in Des Moines, IA. He joined the Navy at the age of 19, and went through basic training in San Diego where his love of California began. He was trained as an aerial photographer and was initially stationed on Kwajalein. Later, he served on the aircraft carrier USS Hornet. After his service he earned a B.S. in Accounting at the University of Iowa and promptly informed his family that he was returning to sunny California. A confirmed bachelor, he retired in 1993 from the position of Controller at Precision Dynamics, in San Fernando.
In addition to photography, Bill loved the outdoors and was involved in Boy Scouts. During the 70s' he was the scout master for Troop 366 in Sunland. He is survived by a brother, L. Richard Wild of Lafayette, LA, and two sisters, Margaret (Nan) Wimmer of Redondo Beach, CA, and Sharon Wild of Aurora, CO, as well as nine nieces and nephews, twenty great nieces and nephews, and one great-great nephew.
Bill is preceded in death by his father Louis Karl Wild, mother Margaret Neuman Wild, and infant sister Sarah Wild.
Services for Bill will be held at St. James Catholic Church in Redondo Beach at 10am on November 3rd, 2009. Burial at Pacific Crest Cemetery will follow.
