Wilson Van Hutchison, a lifelong resident of the South Bay area, passed away on Sunday, June 28, 2009. Van was born on March 17, 1922 in Los Angeles, California. He enjoyed and appreciated his friends, family, community and church. Van was a proud World War II veteran, serving both in the Navy and the Merchant Marines. He retired from McDonnell Douglas Aircraft (33 years) where most of his co-workers knew him as "Hutch." He enjoyed music, woodworking, nature and anything "automotive." He had a passion for violin and guitar music and played both. He was an active member of two local cactus clubs which support the South Bay Botanical Gardens.
Van is survived by his wife of 59 years, Cleo; son Michael; daughter Ilene Aldrich; two sisters, Mary Perry and Helen Lewis; four grandchildren, Angie, Gary, Michele and Glenda; two great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Services will be held on July 3, 2009 at 11:00am at the Sovereign Grace Bible Church, 101 S. Pacific Coast Highway in Redondo Beach, followed by a short graveside service at Pacific Crest Cemetery in Redondo Beach.
