
Shirley Lyons Coleman, 88 passed away Monday September 24, 2012 at Equinox Terrace in Manchester. She was born October 12, 1923 in Greenfield, MA to Frederick Elwell Lyons and Olivia (Burbank) Lyons. She attended primary schools in Greenfield, MA & Bondville, VT . She graduated from Leland & Gray in Townshend in June 1942, 2nd in her class. She was married to Elton Arthur Coleman May 16, 1943.
Shirley was the Librarian and Trustee of Winhall Memorial Library for many years. She was a member of The Bondville Methodist Church. When the new school was built she helped to raise money for the extras (Kitchen freezer, stove, hot lunches, etc.).
Mrs. Coleman was the Clerk and Postmaster at the Bondville Post Office retiring in 1978 after 25 years of service. She was a member of the of Nile Shrine Court #94 L.O.S.N.A. in Brattleboro, VT.
Shirley was predeceased by her husband Elton, 2 brothers, Kennon and Frederick “Buddy” Lyons and is survived by her 2 daughters, Sheila (Coleman) Eddy, Sandra (Coleman) Jones and one son, Elton Stuart; a sister, Francesca (Lyons) Gray, brother Sprague and a number of nieces and nephews.
Also surviving are 8 granddaughters, 1 grandson, 3 great granddaughters and 2 great grandsons.
Graveside committal services and interment will take place on
Saturday Sept. 29th at 11 AM in the Bondville Cemetery, Winhall.
