

Charlie was a kind and gentle man, who enjoyed the simple things in life, like Moomer's Ice Cream, the Detroit Tigers, hunting, and fishing.
A WWII veteran, he was a prisoners’ guard, guarding some of Hitler's top officials at the Dachau Concentration Camp near Munich Germany.
Charlie was a locksmith by trade. He owned Powder Horn Safe and Lock in Traverse City for many years and retired in 2015 from Home Depot.
Charlie is survived by his grandson James Hatton and his sisters-in-law Evelyn Leeman, Dianne Socha, Maxine Socha, Joan Hart, and several nieces and nephews including a special niece, Linda Enger who lovingly cared for him through his illness.
He was preceded in death by his 3 sons: Scott, Ricky, and Jeff; and his loving wife of 52 years, Barbara (Socha).
Charlie was laid to rest next to his beloved wife, Barbara. A memorial service will be held Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Redeemer Lutheran Church in Interlochen. Family will greet friends beginning at 10 a.m.
Memorial contributions in Charlie's name may be directed to the Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1896 Rogers Rd., Interlochen.
