

Clinton “Clint” A. Stites, age 95, of Williamsburg passed away Sunday, November 2, 2014 at Eden Center in Kalkaska. Born December 12, 1918, the oldest of ten children, to James Albert and Martha Macy (Samel) Stites, he graduated from Williamsburg school in 1937. He married Doris Stratton in 1940 in Elk Rapids by Pastor Dorr Garrett and they celebrated 74 years of marriage.
Clint worked several years for Earl Gay, then Super Tool in Elk Rapids, and several other shops in Traverse City as a tool inspector. He enjoyed dancing, camping, farming, and volunteering for Boy Scouts.
Clint is survived by his wife Doris and his children Barbara Ann Tosi and Clinton J. Stites; three sisters and three brothers: Beatrice Wight, Bertha Powell, Alice Sinko, Louis Stites, Irvin Stites, and Wayne Stites; three granddaughters: Lisa (David) Surowitz, Linda Stites, and Lori (Paul) Eickholt, and seven great grandchildren: Aubrey (Maxwell) Chartier, Alyssa Veliquette, Nathan Veliquette, Lynn Eickholt, Steven Surowitz, Anthony Eickholt, and Emily Eickholt.
Besides his parents, Clint was preceded in death by three siblings Dorothy Rancor, Ray Stites, and William Stites.
A private service will be held at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens.
Memorial contributions in Clint’s name may be directed to Hospice of Michigan or the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home of Traverse City.
