

She married Donald Knowles, June of 1942. Helen enjoyed her family. She owned an antique shop, Betsie’s Little Treasure House, which she proudly ran for over 20 years. Helen was a published poet and loved coordinating family events. She was a perfectionist which made her successful as a wife, mother, grandmother, and business owner. Helen enjoyed the cottage on Duck Lake year round with family, especially her grandchildren. Her faith was very important, and she loved the Lord throughout her life.
Helen will be greatly missed by her children: Robert (Elizabeth) Knowles, Karen (George) Jakubas, and Carol (Ronald) Weber; grandchildren: Shelly (Steven) Veatch, Rodney Weber, Jeffrey Doolittle, Robert Knowles Jr., Rudy (Amy) Weber, Daniel Knowles, Jason (Lydia) Jakubas, Mitch Henrys, Kevin (Jenifer) Knowles, Tracy Knowles, 11 great-grandchildren; sisters: Jean Sargent, Elaine Pigeon, and niece Janet Sargent.
Helen was preceded in death by her husband in 2007 and brothers Carl and Kenneth Cassel.
A memorial service will be held Thursday, November 12, 2015, at 1 p.m. at the Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City. The family will greet friends from 12 noon until the time of the service.
