

Jack R. Bolton, 94, passed away Thursday, September 27, 2018 at his home in Empire. He was born in Highland Park on July 21, 1924 to Russell and Fern (High) Bolton. After high school, Jack joined the Navy and served during WWII. On May 23, 1946 he married Claire Hodges in Clifton, New Jersey and was married for 54 years. Together they had two sons, John and Daniel.
Jack spent his career as a salesman in the food service industry, retiring from Jack Bolton Food Sales in 1989. He enjoyed his retirement traveling and playing golf. He was a very social man, and was active with many groups in the community including Empire Masonic Lodge, Shriners, Empire Loins Club, Traverse City Elks Club and the Empire DOMC.
Jack is survived by his sons John W. (Sun Ok) Bolton and Daniel J. Bolton, and grandchildren James Bolton, and Thomas Bolton, and great granddaughter Elizabeth Bolton.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Claire, and his brother, William Bolton.
A memorial service including a Masonic service and military honors is planned for 2 p.m. on Monday, October 8, 2018 at Empire United Methodist Church with visitation one hour prior. Burial will take place at Rose Hill Cemetery.
