Janice A. Mowers

Janice was born on September 14, 1947 in Detroit, the daughter of Deneen and Clarabell (Roddy) Lewis. She was a clerk at Kings Ice Cream Shop when Frank Russell introduced her to her soul mate, Alva Mowers. They were married on September 19, 1964. Jan was a very active woman who enjoyed interior design, touching many lives with her creativity and keen eye. She also enjoyed traveling, cooking, reading, and always has a spotless home. She treasured spending time with her family and friends, and her precious cats.

Jan will be deeply missed by all who knew and cherished her; Alva Mowers, her husband of 48 years; beautiful sons, Chris (Sally) Mowers and Rob (Jessie) Mowers; grandchildren, Christopher (Ashleigh), Timothy, and Britany Mowers; brothers, Larry (Nan) Lewis and Robert (Pamela) Lewis; nieces, Amanda (Daniel) Doezema, Ashley (Greg) Roper, and Alissa (Dan) Hess; and nephew, Brian Lewis. Jan is also survived by her best friend Sue Alice and special friends, Cheryl and Robby Dunham, Jessica and Jack Rohl, and Crissy Buchholz.

Jan is preceded in death by her parents and nephew Tony Lewis.

A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, May 28 at 11:00 am at Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City with visitation one hour prior to the service.
