

Kathryn Marie Boucher, 97, of Traverse City and formerly of Bay City, MI and Cleveland, Ohio died on October 11, 2010 at the Grand Traverse Pavilions. Kathryn, (B. 8-25-1913), the daughter of William & Mary Ellen (Egan) Elwell was reared in Cleveland, came to Bay City in 1937, where she met Myles E. Boucher while working at Consumers Power in Bay City. They married on Feb. 14, 1942 and after Myles’ service in the US Army they raised their three children: Kathleen and twins, Michael and Raymond.
Kathryn was devoted to her family and Holy Trinity Catholic Church where she served on the building committee, with Myles in the Confraternity for Christian Doctrine, and the Holy Rosary Society. Following her retirement from Sears, she moved to Traverse City where she continued her volunteer work with Munson Medical Center Auxiliary and mentored youth in the community. Kathryn maintained a lifelong devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary, praying the Rosary during her last hours.
Survivors include children: Kathleen (Fred) Gosling of Traverse City, Michael (Catherine) Boucher of Dearborn, MI, and Raymond Boucher of Vallejo, CA; seven grandchildren: David (Cindy) Switala, Kelli Switala, Brian (Carolyn) Switala, Juliette (Stanley) Niemi, Faith Follis Boucher, Myles Boucher, Jocelyn Boucher, and one step grandchild: Fred (Mary) Gosling, Jr. There are several great grandchildren and one great-great grand daughter, whose birth Kathryn attended this year. She is also survived by her sister-in-law Louella Elwell of Bay City, MI and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Myles (in 1960), and three brothers: Eugene, George, and Robert Elwell. A memorial service will be held at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Traverse City on Tuesday Oct. 26, 2010 at 11AM. Arrangements are being handled by Covell Funeral Home of Traverse City, MI.
