Larry Lee Stowe

Larry Lee Stowe passed away peacefully in his home in Traverse City, MI on May 24, 2020 with his beloved wife, Ila, of 63 years, and his family by his side. Larry was born on November 5, 1938 in Traverse City, MI to William and Martha (Ritola) Stowe. He married the love of his life and best friend, Ila Skiver, on December 29, 1956. From then on, the two were inseparable.

Larry graduated from Traverse City Central High School. He was a very dedicated and hardworking man. He retired from Standard Electric after working in electric wholesale for 34 years. His customers could always count on a joke and a smile when dealing with him, and then he would send them to the payment counter, where Ila would set them straight.

Over the years in his free time, he enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, gardening, playing cards, hunting, baking, and riding his side by side. He was the kindest man and always wore a smile on his face. He will be remembered for being everyone’s biggest fan and supporter.

Larry leaves behind an amazing legacy and is survived by his wife, Ila, daughters Sandra (Dale) Roelofs and Annette (Mark) Counsell, and son Daniel Stowe. Larry loved his grandkids and great grandkids more than anything, and they could pretty much get away with whatever they wanted with Grandpa. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Jason (Tonya) Roelofs, Angie (Kevin) Kopriva, Alyssa (Matt) Knust and Ashley (Dan) Westover, along with great grandkids Austin, Cam, Karly, Ryan, Mason, Brayden, Alexa and Owen. He was also survived by his brother, Duane Stowe; brother, Garth (Sharon) Stowe; brother; Jim (Victoria) Stowe; sister, Judy (Jim) Fenton and sister-in-law, Jo (Edward) Stowe.

Larry was preceded in death by his son and daughter in law, David and Brenda Stowe. Also waiting to welcome him home are his parents; sister, Maxine; brother, Don; brother, Leroy; brother, Edward; and sister-in-law, Judy Stowe.

A celebration of life will be held in honor of Larry at a later date.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for memorial donations to be directed to Munson Hospice at 1150 Medical Campus Drive, Traverse City, MI 49684.
