Lynné Suzanne Prange

She leaves behind Jim, her beloved husband of 34 years. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jean and Lloyd Durocher. She leaves behind her family, Phillip of Mt. Pleasant, Charles (Christine), Daniel and Samantha of Grand Rapids, Michelle (Richard), Michael, Stephanie, and Kristina of Charlotte, North Carolina, and William (Diane), Matthew and Laura, of Traverse City. Also surviving are her in-laws, Rick and Pat Prange, Mike and Maryann Prange, Judy and Steve Kolenda, Tom and Gina Prange, John and Marylou Prange and Lin and Brian Banfield, along with many nieces and nephews. Lynné enjoyed a special friendship with her Aunt Violet Felker.

Lynné taught elementary school in Springfield, Massachusetts for 20 years, after graduating from the College of Our Lady of the Elms in Chicopee, MA. She later became a master gardener for Gardening Angels in Grand Rapids, MI.

She was born in Traverse City, Michigan and lived in Chicago, IL, West Palm Beach, FL, East Hartford, CT and Springfield, MA. Jim and Lynné resided in New Britain and Somers, CT for 14 years before returning to her home state of Michigan in 2000. After 12 years in Rockford, MI, Jim and Lynné moved to their dream log home in Empire, MI.

Lynné loved to hike and be outdoors year round, biking, kayaking, boating and cross-country skiing. Her greatest loves were gardening and her beloved cats. She was a St. Philip Neri Church funeral lunch volunteer, a member of the church Christmas choir, as well as prayer blanket group volunteer and gardening volunteer.

On Saturday, May 30, visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 a.m. at St. Philip Neri Catholic Church in Empire. A committal service will follow at Grand Traverse Memorial Gardens in Traverse City at 2:30 p.m.

A memorial service to be held later this summer in Connecticut is being planned.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Cowell Family Cancer Center or Food for the Poor in her memory.
