

Mary Jo was born September 26, 1939 in Rochester MI, the daughter of Sandy and Evangeline (Brannick) Campbell. She graduated from Rochester High School, Rochester MI. She married Edwin Hughes after his service in the U.S. Navy on June 21, 1958 and had three daughters. She and her family have lived in Traverse City for 42 years. She was a great homemaker and was a wonderful support for her husband and a best friend to all of her daughters. She was an excellent listener and encourager and always had a smile on her face. The Hughes house had open doors for all to enter at any given time from early morning till late in the evening. She loved reading, camping and bonfires but mostly anything to do with her family and friends. Everyone was welcomed and everyone felt loved by her. She was one of the Good Ones and will be Greatly missed.
Surviving Mary Jo, Husband Ed Hughes, Daughters Laura Hughes (Fred Cybulski), Wendy Gillner (Michael), Cindy Hughes; Brothers Dick Campbell, Jim Campbell (Linda), Grandchildren, Janae Eppler, Scott Gillner, Cory Gillner (Salina)and Rachel Gillner; Great grandchild, Jujuan Eppler and many nieces and nephews and friends.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 26, from 5 to 7 pm at Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City. Memorial contributions may be made to Munson Hospice.
