

Pete was born on April 26, 1927 in Cedar, the son of Francis and Rose (Fleis) Mikowski. He joined the United States Army and was a Lifetime Member of the VFW Cherryland Post. In 1954, he married Dorothy Lindter, who passed away in 1992. In 2009, he married Muriel Keller.
Pete was a highly sought-after, talented mason and partner at Holcomb Masonry. He was also a gifted woodworker, making many projects over the years for family members. He built a cottage on Lake Leelanau and completely renovated his family home. Pete was an avid gardener and had a true passion for fishing and hunting. He loved his family and was very proud of his children. Pete welcomed his daughters-in-law as if they were his own children. He was a kind and thoughtful husband who wasn’t afraid to express love and affection.
Pete is survived by his wife, Muriel Mikowski; children, Chuck (Cheri) Mikowski, and Jeff (Nancy) Mikowski; grandchildren, Greg (Marie) Mikowski, Cassandra (Mark) Quearry, Alan Mikowski, and Jennifer (fiancé Blaine Peterson) Mikowski; and great grandson, Dominic Mikowski.
Preceding him in death are his wife, Dorothy Mikowski; parents, Francis and Rose Mikowski; and sons, Mike and Teddy Mikowski.
Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 21, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m., with a memorial service at 7 p.m., at Covell Funeral Home in Traverse City. In lieu of flowers, please consider memorial contributions to Hospice of Michigan, Traverse City.
