

Raymond “Ray” W. Horton, age 70, of Interlochen passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his family, Wednesday, February 15, 2012. He was born January 23, 1942 in Pontiac to Donald and Doris (Osborne) Horton. Ray served his country in the US Navy for 2 years. On August 12, 1961 Ray married Sharon Clarke in Drayton Plains, MI. Together they raised 4 children.
Ray worked for 24 years for Petroleum Abstract & Title in Traverse City. He and his wife were avid Square Dancers and were members of the Buttons and Bows dance club. Ray enjoyed calling at local square dances. He was a skilled wood worker and was often found working on some wood project in his garage.
He will be greatly missed by his wife Sharon; Children: Michelle (Bill) Traylor of Kingsley, Raymond Jr. (Fredia) Horton of Traverse City, Kimberly (Mark) Porter of Karlin, and Laura Page of Traverse City; 12 grandchildren: J.J., David, Amanda, Raymond III, Brooke, Shana, Kameron, Tessa, Edward, Ryan, Justin, and Tyler; 4 great grandchildren: Connor, Aubrey, Cayden, and Raelee.
Besides his parents, Ray was preceded in death by his brother Donald Lee Horton.
A memorial service is being planned for the spring.
Memorial contributions may be directed to the Cherryland Humane Society.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home of Traverse City.
