

Robert “Boombahh” E. Boyer, age 77 of Elk Rapids, formerly of Flushing, passed away peacefully Saturday, April 18, 2015 with his family by his side. Robert was born June 18, 1937 in Flint to James and Estella (Bloomer) Boyer. Robert graduated from Flint Tech. High School in 1955. He married Sharon Phillips on November 2, 1957 in Flint and together they raised 4 children.
Robert retired from Buick where he worked as a supervisor. In his spare time, Robert enjoyed hunting, repairing and restoring vehicles, and watching U of M football and NASCAR. He and Sharon spent many winters in Oldsmar, Florida.
Robert will be greatly missed by his wife of 57 years, Sharon; children: Terri (Mike) Szukhent of Flushing, Cindi (Don) Mandeville of Linden, Rob (Rhonda) Boyer of Elk Rapids, and Kristi (Greg) Bashaw of Flushing; 13 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren, several nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog Willie.
Besides his parents, Robert was preceded in death by his sister, Beverly Klink and granddaughter, Michelle Cook.
Pursuant to Roberts wishes there will be no memorial service held, but a celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
The family would like to thank all the staff at Bortz Healthcare for their care and attention to Robert while he was there.
Memorial contributions in Robert's name may be made to the Macular Degeneration Association or the Multiple Sclerosis Society.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home of Traverse City.
