Thomas M. Sweazy (Swayze), 77, of Traverse City, Michigan, passed away suddenly in his home on May 17, 2019. He was the 4th son of Robert E. Sr. and Hazel R. (Ruch) Sweazy. Born and raised in Elkhart, on September 11, 1941, he was a graduate of Concord High School and attended Indiana University. After a stint in the U.S. Navy, Tom sought a career in the theatre living many years in New York City, Los Angeles and Florida. He retired in Traverse City, Michigan. He loved the theatre, music, sports and later in life, gardening. He led a spiritual, metaphysical life and was always a seeker. Often philosophizing, his nieces and nephews lovingly called him Socrates. His frequent greeting to them was "Hi'ya Honey"! He had an infectious laugh and wonderful sense of humor.
He is survived by his sister, Becky, of Traverse City, Michigan, his sister-in-law, Eileen Sweazy of Elkhart and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, Robert Jr., Walter and Keith and by one nephew, Michael Sweazy. He will be dearly missed.
A memorial service will be held at a later date at his home in Traverse City.
