

Victoria Ann Hanson, age 71, died peacefully January 10, 2017 with her loving son by her side. Victoria was born in Waukegan, Illinois to Richard and Margaret (Tolbert) Hanson. She was the eldest of 5 children and was raised in Ionia with her brothers and sisters. She graduated from Ionia High School in 1963 and then went to Michigan State University. Vicki spent her summers at the family cottage on Long Lake where she excelled in water skiing.
During her lifetime, Victoria had many careers but she was most proud of her Golf Package Company in South Carolina. She loved golf and was an avid golfer most of her life. She had tremendous friends and a supportive family. She returned to Traverse City her last two years to be near her son Joseph and his family. She loved her family, especially her granddaughters, and enjoyed spending time with them.
Victoria is survived by her son Joseph Hoedel and his wife, Sally; her four granddaughters Hope, June, Tess and Jillian Hoedel; sister Christine (Jim) McKnight; sister Emilee (Robert) Sabourin and brother Joe (Teresa) Hanson.
She was preceded in death by her grandparents Walter P. Hanson; Coila Hanson Monroe and Lewis O. Monroe; and Earl and Emma Tolbert; her parents and her beloved brother, Richard (Buzz) Hanson.
A private family service will take place in May with internment in Easton Township Cemetery. Memorial Contributions can be made to Hospice of Michigan
Arrangements have been entrusted to Covell Funeral Home of Traverse City.
