Wayne was born in Kingsley on March 27th, 1949, to Wallace Henry and Frances Juanita Chappel. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Brigid Ann (Bramer) Chappel, his son Jared (Michelle), granddaughter Sarah, his brother Dennis (Mary), and estranged son John. He was preceded in death by his parents, and brothers Vance, and Wallace, Jr. He graduated from Traverse City Senior High in 1967, enlisted in the United States Navy in 1968, and received an honorable discharge of service in 1972. Wayne then entered into the trade of masonry, where he remained and flourished, until retiring in 2010 from the International Brotherhood of Bricklayers and Allied Trowel Tradesmen, Union Local #9.
Wayne was a warm, affable man who enjoyed spending time at home with his family, and worked tirelessly to ensure their comfort and safety. He was a tremendously talented man, who could create art using any medium, cook a delicious meal, and grow a beautiful garden.
The family would like to express their gratitude and thanks to the entire staff of Spectrum Hospital, especially the fifth floor of The Meijer Heart Center.
