I had the pleasure of acting in a play that Mark directed at the little theater many years ago. I recently saw him in the paper for an award he had received and noted he was ill. I had hopes he would beat this. I have many lovely memories from that summer. He touched the lives of many.

I remember when Mark came on board at Fairfield Intermediate School. His smile lit up the hallways and his positive attitude could not be topped. Mark's love of life and people made the world a better place to be. He will be greatly missed, however, his memory alone will bring a smile and joy to the person thinking about him. I thank God for Mark's humanitarian efforts and his long lasting mark on the lives of those he taught. Praying God will comfort all who loved him, and that lasting memories will keep him close in heart.

Vineland has lost a true humanitarian. He has influenced the lives of so many of our children and saved the lives of so many others. May his family take comfort in the fact that he spent his life doing what he loved as well as leaving behind a legacy that will be hard to replicate. Our deepest sympathy goes out to his family.

To the Family and Friends of Mark:
Please accept our sincere sympathy on the loss of a truly extraordinary human being and teacher. In his classes, students learned so much more than what the standard curriculum required. His sense of caring and compassion was reflected in the work he loved so much, and his positive impact on the lives of thousands of young people is an indelible part of his legacy. He was a very unique teacher, one who will be remembered forever by his former students, their families and his colleagues. His was truly a life well lived.

With great respect,

Mark and I were classmates as far back as grammar school and we did school and Little Theatre together. I just came across his high school pic and what he wrote to me - brought tears to my eyes. Such a deep, profound heart he had and his legacy will live on forever and in the hearts of all he touched. Truly he was an angel on earth and now an angel in heaven.

Mark, you were a great inspiration to my children Alex and Isaiah Ocasio. You came into their lives when they needed you most as you have for so many other youth. You lifted their spirits in a time when they were struggling, you believed in them and build their self confidence.

Although we are sadden to hear of your passing we know you are no longer suffering and in a place of peace and complete joy.

You will always remain someone special to us.

See you in heaven my friend...

Merrari, Alexander and Isaiah Ocasio.

How sad to loose such a wonderful human being. Mark his brothers and I grew up together. If we weren't together at Capri Swim club it was at the Little Theater of Vineland. My condolences to David and Kenny and the Melamed family. He touched the lives of so many people.
