He was born in Atlanta, the son of the late Alonzo J. and Sallie Myers McAlpin.
Lonnie was a Navy veteran serving during two wars.
He was a retired from maintenance service at the AJC.
He is survived by his son, Steve (Cheryl) McAlpin of Oxford, GA; 5 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild; nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 26 at 2:00 pm in the chapel of Floral Hills Funeral Home with Alvie Rodgers officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Hills Memory Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
