Arturo Leonardo Eyre, age 89 of Stone Mountain, GA, beloved husband for over 56 years to Hellena Eyre passed away on April 13, 2016. Loving father of Bonnye Johnson, Douglas Downs (Jackie), Karla Eyre and Arturo L. Eyre Jr. He is also survived by his beloved grandchildren Brian, Marc, Ashton, Peyton, Kayton, his sister Margarita Carter, great-grandchildren, Briahanna, Aubree, Jaxon, his brother Victor Eyre, and a host of loving family and friends.
Mr. Eyre was born in Bartle, Victoria de Las Tunas, Cuba on March 28, 1927 to Alfredo and Regina Eyre and was the third of five children. Mr. Eyre came to New York in 1957, where he met his wife, Hellena. They resided on Long Island, NY until 1996 when they moved to Atlanta.
Family and friends are invited to gather on Saturday, April 23, 2016 at Floral Hills Funeral Home Chapel, 3150 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, GA 30084 from 1 p.m. until 3 p.m., where a Memorial Service will begin at 3 p.m. A private burial will be held at a later date.
