

William “Bill” Frederick Engelhart, age 73, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2013 at Odyssey House, Decatur, GA. Bill was a loving and caring husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was born in Atlanta, GA to the late Grace Slaton and Judge Robert Davis Engelhart on June 24, 1939. He was preceded in death by his brother Bobby Engelhart, Stepmother, Doris Johns Engelhart and Stepbrother, Phillip Johns.
He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Louise “Lou” Hobbs Engelhart; daughter Karyn West (Randall); granddaughter, Hannah West; grandson, Steffan West; sister-in-laws Jackie Engelhart and Janet Johns; stepbrother Tony Johns (Patricia) of England; stepsister, Vicki Young (Bob) and numerous nieces and nephews.
Bill was a veteran of the U.S. Army, stationed at Ft. Stewart. He co-founded and retired from Business Paper Company, Atlanta, GA.
Bill was an active member at Embry Hills United Methodist Church. Through the years he served as President of the Men’s Club and Fellowship Class, was a member of the Drama Group – both behind and on stage, Choir, and one of the original Craftsmen. Bill loved genealogy, having helped Lou find many of her distant cousins. He was an avid gardener and had developed a passion for photography. Bill enjoyed the time he spent with friends and family. He was known to help out anyone at a moment’s notice. He was so proud of his Punkin, Big R, Sweet Pea and Hot Shot and he was their Bumpooh. His wit and humor as well as the twinkle in his eyes will be greatly missed.
The family will receive visitors on Friday, March 22, from 2 – 4 p.m. and 6:30 – 8:30 p.m. at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 3150 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, GA 30084, ph: 770-491-3021.
