Mr. Merritt is survived by his son Stephen Lamar Merritt.
Mr. Merritt's wife Doris Morgan Merritt, mother Louie Belle Merritt and father Herman Clayton Merritt predeceased him.
Surviving family members include Mr. Merritt's sisters-in-law Frances Morgan and Velma (George) Black, aunts Louneil Corn (George) Bramlett, Josephine F. (Howard) Corn and uncle Larry A. (Janet) Corn.
Visitation will be at Floral Hills Funeral Home on Tuesday September 20 from 6 to 8 pm. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday September 21 at 11 am.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Rehoboth Baptist Church.
