Chungkae was born in April of 1949 in Canton, China, to parents Nelson and Lily. He graduated from the University of Iowa with a Master’s degree in electrical engineering. He moved to Burlington, Iowa and accepted a position as an electrical engineer at General Electric where he worked for 5 years, and then a project engineer with Coleco Industries for 2 years, before opening CKC Industries in Tampa, Florida and CKC systems in Eastaboga, Alabama. Chungkae was a great family man and a loving husband and father. He married Anna in 1974 and the couple raised 3 children together. They lived in Tampa for over 40 years until relocating to Atlanta this summer.
Chungkae was an active man who deeply enjoyed his work. He enjoyed working on electronic, electrical, and mechanical projects, and he cared deeply about his family and the Chinese community. His family and friends will always remember him as an intelligent, hardworking, kind, and caring person who led by example.
Chungkae is survived by his wife, Anna, of Atlanta, Georgia; his daughter, Jenny, of Tampa, Florida; and his son Alan and daughter Amy, of Atlanta, Georgia. He is preceded in death by his parents Yum-Ping Nelson Cheng and Woon-Ling Lily Yuen, of Hong Kong; and his brother Peter, of Hong Kong.
A funeral is scheduled for October 10, 2026 with burial and reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Chungkae’s life. The family would like to thank everyone who knew Charles.
