Our family (Bugg) lived on Webb Road in Tucker, two doors down from the Sartain's, for 20+ years. It was during the time that your neighbors were like family. It was "Yes, Sir" and "No, Ma'am." You respected your elders. And you behaved yourself or someone's Mom or Dad would tell your parents because everybody was always looking after everyone else's kids like they were their own.
We ran around barefoot all summer and played Freeze Tag, Hide and Seek, Simon Says, Red Rover, badminton, and other games all day long. We knew the fun and games were over when we heard Mr. Sartain's big, loud whistle for Tim to come home. Mrs. Sartain had dinner ready. And Tim knew he had better run home as fast as he could...or else.
To this day, my husband, George, and I are good friends with Tim, Laura, and Nicolle. And I am grateful for that and all the good years and childhood memories from Webb Road, including the famous Sartain dinner whistle.
Claude was a good family man. He was much loved and well taken care of up to the very end by his loving family. He will be deeply missed. Our heartfelt prayers to Tim, Laura, Becky, Joyce, his grandchildren, and all of his precious family.
