Constantine N Babaliaros MD was born on December 23rd 1931 in Argos, Greece and lived a heroic and adventure filled life up until March 21st, 2021. He is survived by his wife Fotini, sister Theodosia, son Nicholas, and son Vasilis, with wife Kate and children, Constantine, Leonidas and Talia. Dr Babaliaros was educated in the University of Athens Medical School and served two years in the Greek military. After he finished his training as a general surgeon, he went to Houston, Texas in 1962 with scholarship to study under renowned vascular and cardiac surgeon, Dr. Michael E. DeBakey. In 1963, Dr Babaliaros came to Atlanta, GA and retrained in general surgery to satisfy requirements to practice in the United States. Once completed, Dr B started his own private practice for general medicine and surgery in East Point, Ga off of Cleveland Avenue. He would perform surgeries at Saint Joseph's Hospital downtown and South Fulton Hospital, East Point until 1999.
Constantine was generous, loving, had unstoppable grit but could also dole out hard truths when needed. He adored education and was always encouraging young people to become their higher selves. The USA answered all of his dreams and for that he was eternally grateful, but his heart belonged with his country of origin and his family back in Greece. The funeral service will be this Thursday March 25th at 11:30am at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Annunciation in Atlanta, Georgia. This very date is the bicentennial anniversary of Greek Independence Day, a poetic and beautiful harmony of events. If you are a friend or family, we would like you to make a donation to the Annunciation Day School in lieu of flowers.
