So sorry to hear of Dave's passing. We will see each other someday again.
I was Dave's chemistry partner at U of E.
and we dated for a while.

He was a kind gentle man always.

I met Dave sometime late in my junior year in high school. I had begun an early school release work program and had been hired by a local Kroger store.  Dave had been there for a few months and while we attended the same high school he was in the class ahead of me. Not quite a year older than me, we connected right away and he was my unofficial guide to my new life in the work force. 
We spent the next 6 or so years working side by side mostly on the night shift while we finished high school and our college studies at a local university. We became fast friends and had many good times. He loved Elvis and I was into The Who and Led Zeppelin, but during our evening cruises, we usually settled on the Beach Boys. We shared a love of automobiles. He taught me how to do basic maintenance and much more. He taught me not to be afraid of diving in to a mechanical project. A curse that I still endure today. One evening I helped him change a rear main seal in his 62 Chevy in his families garage.  His dad wasn’t pleased when he walked into the garage after specifically telling Dave NOT to get oil on the floor and finding what would later become known as the Exxon Valdese spill.

Somewhere around 1988, my family relocated to Duluth Georgia and Dave and I were living within 5 miles of each other. My family immediately took in ‘single Dave’ and included him in many of our holiday and social events. Both of my sons who grew up in his presence called him “uncle”. He had a full machine and wood shop in his basement and he could literally make anything. When I needed a part for my 52 Chevy pickup… he made it. When my wife began selling her pottery, he designed the logo for her business and made a plaque featuring the logo to hang over her studio. His work was impeccable. He was truly a creative genius. I could go on for hours.
If I EVER needed anything ANYTHING – Dave was there. EVERY TIME. Always…
I wish you peace and heavenly bliss my friend. We love you dearly and miss you!

My condolences to the family.  I met Dave as a new grad mechanical engineer when I first started at NCR in 2004.  I appreciated his experience and guidance with a little bit of humor mixed in.  He will be missed.

I worked with Dave at NCR for 15 years or so. He was one of the first persons to greet me when I joined and was kind and patient as I learned how the company worked.   Dave was later on my team as I lead projects and could always be relied upon to do that bit extra to get things done.  Dave and I had similar interests in cars and all things mechanical so we had many enjoyable discussions on those topics.  Dave and I also shared commonality in the area of slightly juvenile humor.  Dave would often swing by my desk with a joke or a comment that lifted my spirits and made the day a little better.  We would share a laugh and he would give me his wry smile.  Dave was a joy to be with and he will be missed.

My condolences to David’s family.  I worked with Dave at NCR on several projects.  He was a very nice man, great designer and great to work with.  He would regularly take parts home to modify them with his tools so they could be used at work.  He definitely loved his cats.  He was a good man.

Dave used this old photograph to create an image of my grandfather in front of his depression era store.  Dave specialized in painting  scenes from that era.

I had the honor of having Dave work on my product development team at NCR.  Dave was more creative and as productive as any of the mechanical engineers and and I had him promoted to recognize his contributions.  Years later, Dave took it upon himself to thank me by using his astonishing painting skills by painting my grandfather from composit photographs at his depression era gas station.  He he presented the work to me and my father shortly before my father's passing.  He brought much happiness to my family and he will always be remembered in the highest regard.
