We were privileged to be next door neighbors of Gwen, Dennis , Jan and Dennis, Jr. since 1968. They were great friends and came to our aid when our son Jeff broke his neck in 1972, and had to have permission to be operated on as we were out of town.Dennis stepped in and granted that. I am sure he came to our aid on more occasions with our teenagers when he served as Juvenile Court Judge. Gwen and I spent a lot of time just visiting and being good friends solving problems and enjoying each others company even with her disability of MS. We met many of the family members through the years and enjoyed all. We will really miss Dennis after he was living alone and we tried to be attentive to his needs with meals etc. in his later years, visiting and checking up with him. He often said" he was just wanted to be with Gwen" and now he is. He is at peace with those he held most dear.

My family sends our condolences to your family in the death of Dennis. My mother, Lenora Gittings Philpott, was one of Gwen's dearest friends from high school in Roanoke, Alabama. They stayed in touch throughout the years and visited as often as possible. I have fond memories of taking my mom to visit Gwen and Dennis in their older years. Prayers for your family in the loss of a special man. Joanne Philpott Mullinax
