

Mrs. Edith Kaiser Winter passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 26, 2013. Born in 1924 in Lexington, SC, Edith graduated as valedictorian from Lexington High School. After graduating from the Duke University School of Nursing in 1945, Edith enjoyed a long and fulfilling nursing career, and retired from Atlanta Medical Center. She was a long-time member of The Lutheran Church of the Messiah, and devoted much time to helping others through her work with the Steven’s Ministries and Meals on Wheels. Edith loved the time she shared with family and friends, Christmas, Gone With the Wind, the Smoky Mountains, travel, music, trains and anything in her favorite color blue. She will be remembered for her sweet and caring nature, her enthusiasm for life, and her deep love of family and friends. Preceding her in death were her husband, Harry Albert Winter, parents B. Frank and Susie Kaiser and brother, Roy Kaiser. Surviving family members are sisters, Lois DeLoache and Muriel Taylor (Don); children, Roy Winter, Karen Winter (Keith), Leslee Strohmeyer (John), Loel Davenport (Murray) and Frank Winter (Kelli); and grandchildren Andy, Jake, Matthew, Jennifer, Curtis, John, Audrey, Jackson, Samantha, Destiny and Cheyanne; and great grandchildren Eva and Ray.
The service will be held on Sunday, December 29, 2013 at The Lutheran Church of the Messiah, 465 Clairemont Avenue, Decatur, GA 30030 with visitation at 1:30pm, followed by the funeral at 2:30pm. Expressions of sympathy are welcome in the form of flowers or memorial contributions to the American Heart Association at heart.org. Arrangements are entrusted to Floral Hills Funeral Home in Tucker, GA.
