Following a lengthy battle with cancer, Edward “Ed” Joseph Wasil, 73, passed away peacefully, at his residence, on June 23, 2025. He was born in Albany, New York, on May 6, 1952 and was the son of the late Edward J and Eleanor Wasil.
Ed graduated from Colony High School, Albany, New York in 1970. He joined the U.S. Navy in 1973 working in the nuclear power field. Upon discharge from the Navy his career in the nuclear power field spanned more than 35+. His career continued when he and a partner established a company dedicated to providing consulting staff for nuclear power plants.
He was a faithful member of the Elks and Eagles, a lifetime member of the VFW and DAV, and a proud Eagle Scout.
Ed is remembered fondly as a legendary storyteller. If allowed he would “talk your ear off” bringing the colorful characters to life with his signature sense of humor. He especially loved rock and roll as well as Polka music.
Ed is survived by his devoted wife of 46 years, Julie Ann (Shenk) Wasil, brothers in law, sisters in law, a niece and nephews, numerous cousins and Redman, his rescue dog.
Services will be held on Friday, June 27, at the Floral Hills Funeral Home in Tucker, GA. Viewing will be at 10 a.m., service following at 11 a.m. Reception following at the Conyers First Methodist Church, Conyers, GA.
