Eileen Olive (76) passed away at her daughter’s home in Georgia, on January 30, 2018, after a short
battle with Melanoma cancer. Her Memorial Service will be held at Auburn First Baptist Church, 128 E.
Glenn Avenue, Auburn, Alabama 36830, on Saturday, February 10, at 1:00 p.m. Central Time.
The family will receive friends in the church fellowship hall following the service. Her internment will be at
Greenwood Funeral Home in Montgomery, Alabama at a later date.
Eileen was born in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Maurice and Elizabeth Dabbs, on May 11, 1941.
She was the second of five children and is survived by her sister Nancy Fisher, her brothers Powell
Dabbs and Marshall Dabbs and predeceased by her brother Phil Dabbs.
Eileen earned her Education Degree from Samford University and completed her Masters in Education at
Auburn University. While a student at Samford, she met and married the love of her life, Doug Olive.
Doug predeceased her (also from Melanoma) in June of 1988. Doug and Eileen had four children: Mimi
Olive Sanders (Mike), Howard Olive (Robyn), Phil Olive (Laurie-Jean) and Maria Olive; thirteen
grandchildren: Leah Sanders (Geoff Neville), Erin Sanders, Maggie Sanders, Hayden Olive, Hayley
Olive, Hudson Olive, Harlie Olive, Delaney Olive, Tyler Olive, Camryn Olive, Hogan Olive, Melayna
Rogers and Gresyn Rogers; and one great-grandchild: Benjamin Neville.
As a Pastor’s wife she spent many years teaching Sunday school, singing in the choir and helping with
children’s and youth activities. She taught elementary, middle and high school for many years and
retired from the Alabama Department of Education as the Director of Adult Education at Trenholm State
Technical College.
Eileen enjoyed Atlanta Braves baseball, playing Domino’s and spending time with her family and friends.
She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
