Faye passed away peacefully of natural causes in her home in Snellville, GA on September 13, 2025, surrounded by love and family. She was born on October 31, 1933, in LaGrange, GA to Lee and Alva Stone, the third of four children. She loved being a Halloween baby and was always called, “The Good Witch” as a family joke. She grew up on golf courses all over North Georgia, as her father was a golf course Superintendent.
She married Olen M. Poss, and eventually they settled in Tucker, GA, where she stayed until after she retired. She then moved to Snellville, GA, where she stayed the rest of her life. She worked for Colonial Pipeline Company as a Right of Way Coordinator for 31 years. She spent her retirement as a renowned Genealogy author, writing 23 books and receiving several awards for her work.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Alva and Lee Stone, her brother William and sister-in-law Renee, her brother John who died in infancy, her beloved sister Lee, and several nieces and nephews. She leaves behind two children – Anthony S. Poss (Cathy) and Robin P. Payne (Phil), and a legacy of grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Most of them got to know and love her deeply and mourn her death profoundly.
Her grace and beauty were evident in everything she did. She was a patron of the arts; she loved ballet, river dance, theatre, and the symphony. Her drawings and paintings were amazing and are priceless to her family. She also loved Atlanta Braves baseball with a passion that would never falter. She was a faithful woman that prayed to our Lord many times per day. We know she is resting surrounded by God’s light.
