Foster was the only child born to Edna and Glenn Elwood on February 26, 1936. Foster spent his childhood and early adulthood in Herkimer, New York, before relocating to Atlanta. In 1959, Foster married his high school sweetheart Donna Mills. The two had four children and a loving home. Foster is preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Donna Mills, his son-in-law, Steve Coker and his longtime companion, Martina Lyons. He is survived by his children: Dawn Coker, David Elwood, Kathy Powell (Brad), and Lisa Holcomb (Randy). He is also survived by his grandchildren who knew him affectionately as "Poppie": Christine (Chris), Taylor (Will), Abby (Sydney), Nick (Victoria), Madison, Reese (Caleb), Jaxon, and a great-grandchild, Harper. Foster was a loving father, grandfather, and friend, and all will miss him.
The family will receive friends to honor Foster on March 26, 2026, between 11-1 at Floral Hills Funeral Home, 3150 Lawrenceville Hwy, Tucker, GA 30084. There will be a private graveside service for his children and grandchildren. In lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity.
