Dr. Frank W. Stallard, a long time resident of Chamblee, GA and recently of Wilmington, NC died peacefully in his sleep Monday. While working as a mathematician at Oak Ridge, he met Mary Katherine Evans, a receptionist who became Mrs. Frank Stallard July 1955. After accepting a position at the University of Iowa in Ames for a period of one year, he and Mary moved to Atlanta in 1955 so he could work as mathematics professor at Georgia Tech, a position he held for over 30 years until his retirement. Frank was a devoted husband and father who attended every ball game, band concert and Cub Scout adventure his three sons could throw at him. He loved to paint and work in his garden and he loved to share roses and plants with friends and family. He also loved his church, Embry Hills United Methodist where he was active in the Men’s club and several administrative positions. Frank had a wonderful sense of humor and always loved to share jokes with his friends and family. He was a friend to many, his students at Georgia Tech, the fellow math faculty that he worked with and his many personal and church friends. He was also a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle who will be missed. Frank is survived by his beloved wife of 56 years Mary, three sons Michael, Kent and Frank Jr. (Will), nine grandchildren and one great granddaughter.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 26, 2011 1:00 pm at Embry Hills United Methodist Church. Interment will follow in Arlington Memorial Park. Mr. Stallard will lie in state at the church starting at 12:00 p.m.
