It is with deep love and gratitude that we remember a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend whose life was defined by faith, family, kindness, and generosity.
She met the love of her life, William “Bill” Keels, at Bass High School in 1952. They married on March 7, 1954, and shared 73 years of marriage filled with love, devotion, and cherished memories. Together, they built a family and a life grounded in faith and commitment to one another.
She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother, known for her deeply maternal and nurturing spirit. She had a generous heart and cared not only for her family, but also for friends and children who were fortunate enough to know her. Her warmth, compassion, and willingness to give of herself left a lasting impression on all who crossed her path.
Her Christian faith was an essential part of her life. She faithfully devoted her time to teaching Sunday school and found great joy in sharing her faith and helping others grow in theirs.
She was also a lifelong lover of books and an avid reader, always finding joy and comfort in the written word. Professionally, she worked as a secretary and stenographer for Hartford Insurance Company and later for the City of Atlanta, where she was known for her dedication and professionalism.
She leaves behind a loving family who will carry her memory in their hearts: her husband, William “Bill” Keels; her son, Robert “Bobby” Keels and his wife, Pam; her daughter-in-law, Paula D. Keels; her grandchildren, Matthew Keels and Kristen Sarich; her great-grandchild, Aryssa Sarich; and her sister, Mary Elizabeth “Libby” Pitner.
She was preceded in death by her son, John Keels; her parents, Jack and Ora Belle Shelnutt; and her sister, Doris Adams.
Her life was a testament to the enduring power of love, faith, family, and kindness. Though she will be deeply missed, the love she gave so freely will continue through the generations she nurtured and the many lives she touched.
She leaves behind not only cherished memories, but a legacy of faith, devotion, generosity, and unconditional love.
