

Helen Bridgers, 92, passed away on Easter morning, April 5, 2015. She was born in Greenville, SC on March 1, 1923, to the late Eula Baldwin Drake and Franklin Pierce Drake. Helen was preceded in death by her husband of almost 50 years, Ray Harris Bridgers; her brother, Franklin Pierce Drake, Jr, and her sister, Frances Drake Cook Minor. She is survived by sister, Dorothy Drake Sutton, as well as her four children; Daniel Franklin Bridgers (Susan), Elizabeth Ann Hayslett (Richard), Bonnie Ruth Harris (Keith), and David Harris Bridgers (Kathy); 11 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Helen attended Mars Hill Junior College, the University of Tennessee, and earned a Bachelor's Degree from the University of Texas. She lived most of her adult life in Decatur, Georgia where she was a long time member of Clairmont Hills Baptist Church. She was a much loved wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be remembered for her hospitality, her ability to cook for large family gatherings, and being active in her community and church. She and Ray loved to square dance and travel the world. Helen is a past president of the Medlock Homemaker's Club, was accomplished cake decorator, and completed numerous courses at Atlanta Area Tech.
There will be a service of celebration, followed by a reception for family and friends at 2:00pm on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Floral Hills Funeral Home Chapel, 3150 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, Georgia. Family will also received friends one hour prior to the service.
