Helen Jeannette Sessions

SESSIONS, Helen Jeannette passed away on Tuesday, September 6, 2022. Helen was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, and friend. She was born on June 4, 1947 to Betty and Charles Yukech in Pomona, California. She grew up in nearby Upland, graduated from Upland High School in 1965 and attended Chaffey College in Alta Loma, California. She graduated with honors from Georgia State University’s Robinson College of Business with BBA and MS degrees. She enjoyed her career in human resources management with Ernst & Young, National Data Corporation, and Global Payment Systems. After experiencing renal failure in 2003 due to polycystic kidney disease, her brother Chuck was the living donor for her kidney transplant. In 2005, she joined the staff at the Georgia Transplant Foundation to assist organ transplant recipients to return to work, and later did grant writing for GTF.

Helen was an Elder in the Presbyterian Church (USA). She and her family joined Shallowford Presbyterian Church in 1980, where she served two terms on the Session. She taught Sunday school and served on church committees. She was awarded the Presbyterian Women Honorary Life Membership and served multiple terms as Moderator of the Shallowford Presbyterian Women. She was a member and officer of Baron DeKalb Chapter, National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution in Decatur.

Helen was preceded in death by her father, mother, and grandson, Charles Marshall. She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Robert Morris Sessions, her son Ronald Andrew Marshall, daughter Mary Kathryn Sessions (Antonio Salazar Cardozo), brother Charles Yukech (Christine), and sister Linda Brown (Kevin). Goddaughter Alissa Williams (Clint). Stepchildren Ken Sessions (Jenny), Noel Knight (Dexter), and Lee Sessions (Kaye). Grandchildren Bryan Knight (Alex), Blake Knight (Brittany), Savannah Sessions, Skylar Sessions, Matthew Sessions (Kali), Jackson Marshall, and Phoebe Salazar Sessions. Helen will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

A visitation for Helen will be held Tuesday, September 13, 2022 from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Floral Hills Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 3150 Lawrenceville Highway, Tucker, GA 30084. A funeral service will occur Wednesday, September 14, 2022 from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at Shallowford Presbyterian Church, 2375 Shallowford Road, Atlanta, GA 30345. The family will receive friends in the Great Hall immediately following the service. A private burial service will be at the Georgia National Cemetery in Canton.
