Henry Jack Hudson was born on a farm near Vernon, Florida in 1929. His large family included 7 brothers and sisters. He won a scholarship to attend the University of Florida, where met his wife, Dorma, while they were obtaining masters degrees in education. After serving as a captain in the Army, he entered Emory University Dental School in 1954. Upon graduation, he became a professor in the dental school and taught crown and bridge. In 1963 he bought farmland on Chamblee -Tucker Road and built a dental office where he practiced for over 50 years, and where his family and colleagues continue to provide dental services to the community. He was fond of singing and playing bluegrass music to his patients, and provided fruits and vegetables to them from his gardens surrounding the office. Dr. Hudson was a member of the dental honor society and served on the Georgia Dental board. He is survived by his wife Dorma, his three daughters, Marilyn Clow, Marlene Getzendanner and Kathy Franklin, and 4 grandsons. He left an enduring legacy of love, devotion and sacrifice.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 4:00 pm in the chapel of Floral Hills Funeral Home.
